Daniel Treat-Wedding Photographer for Verge Daniel Treat attended the University of the Nations (Kona, Hawaii) and studied Photojournalism and Mass Media Communications. His studies involved extensive international travel in Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States (Russia), Hawaii, and the Continental USA.While in the Republic of Georgia (1994 – 1996), Daniel co-produced a popular music television show. He worked as a freelance photographer, (1996 – 2000). From 2000 – 2003, as the Head of Digital Photography at Group Publishing, Daniel produced photographs for hundreds of editorial style book covers and magazine articles, and built a extensive stock photo library for the company. He took on administrative and creative responsibilities for multiple departments and covered most of the event photography for the company. In 2003, Daniel and Reeta Treat founded VERGE photography ltd, an innovative photography business in Fort Collins, CO with a strong local and national client-base. His 5 years as a business owner gives him excellent skills with customer service, employees as well as an extensive knowledge of wedding vendors. In my own words... I absolutely love to tell stories! My skills as a photo journalistic wedding and portrait photographer began to develop when I was 12 years old with the purchase of my first film camera. I met my incredibly talented wife Reeta in high school as we attended photography classes together. Let me just say that after 3 kids and 11 years of marriage we absolutely love being married and working together. I wouldn't be able to think or breath without her next to me. After high school I traveled with a guitar and camera in hand to as many countries as I could. This led to a further desire to tell story as I tried to capture the unique culture and sometimes tragic tale of the countries where I lived. I learned to love photographing people and telling their stories through the experience of travel. The correlation between songwriting and visual storytelling is much the same process in my mind. A good musician uses the knowledge of music combined with their instrument of choice with such proficiency as if it were an extension of their body. The camera is the paintbrush which allows me to translate emotion, light, and nature into a true story of life and relationships. As a storyteller I prefer to translate events as they unfold rather than dictate or stifle the flow of emotion or drama. I believe that each and every person is a distinct and beautifully created individual with a story to tell. I am at heart an editorial or journalistic photographer. Capturing the unexpected moment is what drives me. | |
